Friends of Joyner Library
The Friends of Joyner Library is the oldest Friends group at East Carolina University. It was established in 1978 to promote Joyner Library as a university and community resource. Through advocacy and fundraising, the Friends promote student success, support library staff development, and provide funding to enhance and preserve unique collections.

Join online Yearly membership levels are:
- ECU Students and Employees – $25
- Individual Membership – $35
- Family Membership – $50
- Silver Sponsor – $250-$499
- Gold Sponsor – $500 and above
Membership Benefits
- Borrowing privileges to Joyner Library’s circulating collections.
- Interlibrary loan privileges
- Invitations to special events sponsored by the library, such as speaking engagements, art shows with interpretative lectures by guest artists, and more.
- Recognition of member generosity in library publications
- Through an agreement with the Friends of Sheppard Memorial Library, you will receive an invitation to the Friends annual book sale members-only night.
Support the Friends of Joyner Library Endowment
To help the Friends plan large projects and be sustainable far into the future, consider supporting the Friends Endowment. Gifts of any size are welcome. Contributions of $1,000 or more are recognized with a permanent plaque on the Wendell and Elva Smiley Patrons Wall, located inside the library entrance.
