Friends hold annual meeting, celebration
Are you interested in learning more about the Friends of Joyner Library? Would you like to join?
The Friends of the Library annual meeting and Patrons Wall celebration was May 9.
This was a free, wine & cheese reception with all guests welcome to reflect on our year, honor our 2022-23 Patron donors Kaye and Mitchell Dotson and celebrate the members of the Friends of the Library.
After honoring Kaye and Mitchell Dotson, the library held formal room dedications. A study room was honored for donors Dr. Michael and Alice Taylor. There was also a dedication of the second-floor sensory space, which was supported from initial funding by the Friends of the Library. Reception guests then toured the sensory room.
The featured program was the “We can do Better” documentary film, which was supported by a 2022-23 Institute of Museum and Library Services-funded Library Services and Technology Act grant. Collaboration between ECU Special Collections, the Phoenix Historical Society and producer Frederick Murphy with A1 Day1 Productions in Charlotte led to the curation of the 34-minute film. Remarks will be made by Kelly Spring, project principal investigator and Head of Manuscripts & Digital Curation.
The Friends of Joyner Library was established to foster the role of Joyner Library as a university and global resource. The Friends sponsor programs focused on raising awareness of the library’s resources and support fundraising activities to develop and preserve collection development and facility upgrades.
