Digital Scholarship

Digital Scholarship refers to new forms of analysis, data visualization, and communication made possible by current and evolving software.

Digital Scholarship includes both born-digital materials and the analysis and visualization of texts that were originally print. Support for Digital Scholarship projects is provided by a variety of faculty and staff at the university, including personnel from Joyner Library, the University Multimedia Center (UMC), and the Digital Innovation and Scholarship in the Social Sciences and Humanities (DISSH) Lab.

Do you have an idea for a project? Submit a request to the Digital Scholarship Working Group for assistance on getting started.

DISC directs the library’s engagement with digital projects, acts as a review board for existing digital projects, and facilitates the communication and assessment of approved projects. If you have any questions, please contact us at scholarlycomm@ecu.edu.

Library expertise is available in project management, metadata, digitization, preservation planning, copyright, and use of selected tools or software such as Omeka, DSpace, Open Journal Systems, and more.
