Diversity Statement

East Carolina University’s Academic Library Services reaffirms our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We believe that a multitude of ideas, cultures, and people together create the perfect environment for growth. As the faculty and staff of the library, we serve a large, diverse university population with many differences. By acknowledging those differences, we welcome the exploration of various ideas, perspectives, and cultures.  We also strive to create an equitable physical and online environment welcoming to all who come to learn and grow. We endeavor to promote initiatives that will strengthen the entire university’s focus and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion.   

We stand by ECU’s commitment to access and diversity. We also support the American Library Association Code of Ethics and the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries’ Values Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
