W. Keats Sparrow Writing Award
The W. Keats Sparrow Writing Award recognizes excellence in research and writing by students in East Carolina University’s English 1100 and 2201 composition classes. The award is sponsored by the Friends of Joyner Library and is named in honor of Dr. W. Keats Sparrow, Professor Emeritus of English and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Eligibility & Guidelines
- Papers must include a research component using Joyner Library’s resources.
- Research papers written for an ECU ENGL 1100 or ENGL 2201 class during the Summer 2022, Fall 2022, or Spring 2023 semesters are eligible for consideration.
- There is no submission limit. Please complete a paper submission form for each paper.
- Papers may be submitted by the instructor (with the student’s permission) or by the student.
- Entries for the 2023-2024 Award are due Friday, May 10, 2024 at 11:55pm
