Alzheimer’s exhibit honors Susan Dorsey

The exhibit honors former Teaching Resources Center employee Susan Dorsey. All sale profits will be donated to the North Carolina Alzheimer’s Association.

“Alzheimer’s Fantasies,” an exhibition of nearly 30 uniquely colored drawings and digital prints, is on display in the Janice Hardison Faulkner Gallery, on the second floor of the main campus library, into late November.

This exhibit is in honor of the late Susan Lynne Dorsey, who retired from Joyner Library in 2012.

The exhibiting artist is Michael A. Dorsey, Professor Emeritus in the ECU School of Art and Design. All sale profits will be donated to the North Carolina Alzheimer’s Association.

Dorsey described his work as a visual conversation to himself while serving as a caregiver for his wife. The works were created in a three-year period with Michael drawing on a lap board sitting next to Susan.

Michael Dorsey was dean of the School of Art from 1991 to 2003. He is a signature member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina and previously served as head of the Department of Art at Mississippi State University. He and his wife resided at Minnesott Beach, North Carolina, prior to her death.
