Flag Day, 2022
June 14 is national Flag Day.
It is held annually on June 14 to recognize June 14, 1777, when Continental Congress adopted a resolution approving the design of a national flag. The flag has featured 50 stars and 13 stripes since July 4, 1960, when Hawaii was added as the 50th star.
In 1782, PBS reported the meanings of the colors on the U.S. flag. It was reported red was for valor and hardiness, white for purity and innocence and blue for vigilance, perseverance and justice.
