Two new open access agreements

ECU Libraries are pleased to announce two new open access agreements, enabling our researchers to reach more readers. We now support open access publishing agreements with 11 publishers.

As part of a collaboration with the Carolina Consortium, ECU Libraries reached an agreement with Elsevier to permit ECU authors to publish their works in a selected list of hybrid journals (XLSX) on ScienceDirect at no cost to them. The corresponding author must be a current student, staff or faculty member at the time the article is accepted for publication. Please note that the consortial account may be depleted before the end of the calendar year, after which the articles may be published subscription-access at no cost, or the authors may work out funding for the open access publishing fees.

ECU Libraries also recently signed an agreement with Mary Ann Liebert to provide open access article publishing support for ECU corresponding authors. Authors are eligible if they are current faculty, staff or students at the time the article is accepted for publication. This agreement covers all ECU articles submitted and accepted during calendar year 2025 for all Mary Ann Liebert journals. Please note that only the open access fees are paid, and some journals will have page or illustration fees that are not covered by this agreement.
