Friends meeting – register by May 4

The Patrons wall celebration and reception and annual Friends of the Library meeting is scheduled for May 12. The event will begin at 5 p.m. in the Janice Hardison Faulkner Gallery on the second floor of the library.

About the Program:

Charles R. Ewen Ph. D., professor of Anthropology, and Thomson Shields Jr., Ph. D. of English, will present, “Reconsidering the Lost Colony: What We Don’t Know and Why We Don’t Know.”

Do North Carolinians really know all the history of The Lost Colony? Though the colony lost contact with England in 1587, it did not become THE Lost Colony until the 19th century. Trying to disentangle fact from folklore has complicated research into the fate of the colonist.
