MLK Day 2022

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Martin Luther King Jr. – August 1963

As ECU’s main campus library, this Martin Luther King Jr. Day we honor his work, sacrifice, and legacy.

Diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility are values we hold deeply within our library. Yet, we acknowledge that simply believing in these values is not enough to create change. We recognize that it is through our collective action toward a shared vision for a better future that substantive change will be realized.

Not only do we advocate for freedom of inquiry and expression, racial equity, and social justice…We believe that libraries are uniquely positioned to support anti-racism efforts with resources and expertise on critical thinking that can guide our learning and our education.
