ECU Digital Collections redesign launched!

We are excited to announce a complete redesign of the ECU Digital Collections repository!

The Digital Collections Team is excited to announce a complete redesign of the Digital Collections repository!  The new design is live now, and the URL has not changed https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/

This major sitewide refresh includes many back-end and front-end updates. After more than a year of brainstorming and hard work, we have incorporated several ways to improve the usability of our repository.  

The new features will make it more intuitive for users to navigate the site, including more accurate date sorting, improved browse format functionality, and updated facet content and controls. Other notable updates include:  

·         Descriptive metadata has been migrated into a graph database  

·         Increased linked data potential

·         Consolidation of technical metadata

·         Additional automation for ingesting material into the repository

·         Expanded full text searchability 

These include an overall design refresh, which gives it a more contemporary feel. These improvements are too numerous to list, but a few we want to highlight include updates to our image viewer, audio player, and video player. In addition, Collection Guides are returned on the first page of search results to promote cross traffic between our repository and the wealth of information found on the Special Collections pages.
