Open Access Resources

You can access thousands of scholarly journals and databases that you might need for your research through Joyner Library. But if there’s an article or paper you need in a paywall-protected journal to which Joyner doesn’t subscribe, all is not lost!

Here are some resources that can help you appropriately access journal articles and research papers if the library doesn’t subscribe to the publication you need:

Interlibrary Loan can often provide articles and chapters within a day or two free of charge: https://illiad.lib.ecu.edu/illiad/ERE/

The Unpaywall browser extension provides a direct link to the full-text article if a free version is available: http://unpaywall.org/

Kopernio, a browser extension produced by the Web of Science Group, finds free, full-text PDFs when available: https://kopernio.com/

The Open Access Button browser extension, finds free research articles and data: https://openaccessbutton.org/

PubMed Central is a free archive of full-text biomedical and life science journal articles: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/

Google Scholar finds open-access versions of scholarly articles. Joyner’s link to Google Scholar
