Joyner Library Spring Banquet to feature local, award-winning chef Vivian Howard
The Friends of Joyner Library will host “A Night with Vivian Howard” as part of their 2017 Spring Banquet on March 30 at the Greenville Hilton.
Star and creator of the PBS show A CHEF’S LIFE and owner and chef of the acclaimed Chef and the Farmer restaurant in Kinston, North Carolina, Howard will share personal experiences with discovering age-old traditions for Southern cooking that inspired her latest cookbook, Deep Run Roots. A true celebration of the flavors from North Carolina’s coastal plain, Howard divulges over 200 recipes and stories to reveal the history of Southern food and its roots in family and tradition.
Also during the program, the Friends of Joyner Lifetime Membership Award will be presented to long-time member Edith Rand.
The event is open to the public including Friends members and non-members and will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction. Tickets may be purchased at tinyurl.com/friendsbanquet for $100 per person, which includes a signed copy of Deep Run Roots, or $1,000 per table of eight with preferred seating and eight books.
All proceeds will be used to support student awards, community events and opportunities for staff development at East Carolina University.
