Joyner Library Special Collections Remembers D-Day, June 6, 1944
Today, we remember the brave individuals who took part in the Normandy landings, more commonly referred to as D-Day, on June 6, 1944. 79 years ago today, roughly 160,000 Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, in a massive operation to liberate Western Europe from Nazi occupation. The D-Day landings remain the largest seaborne invasion in history and were a turning point for the Allied forces in World War II.
To commemorate the anniversary of D-Day, we have compiled a list of resources and collections from our holdings that relate to the June 6, 1944, Normandy landings.
For more information about any of the materials listed below, or for questions about how to access these and many other collections, feel free to contact the faculty and staff of Joyner Library Special Collections at SPECIALCOLLECTIONS@ECU.EDU.
