University Archives Showcase Exhibit

With the start of a new semester, Special Collections has installed a brand-new exhibit throughout Joyner Library! This exhibit highlights the departments that curate/work with Special Collections materials, and showcases a wide variety of items from our collections. To celebrate the new exhibit, we will be featuring a series of blog posts about each of the participating departments. Up next is University Archives!

University Archives is the final, central repository for East Carolina University records of permanent historical value. This includes documents created by ECU’s administration, offices, colleges, departments, student groups and faculty members as well as items from alumni about their time as students. Archives staff have curated a new exhibit “Highlights from University Archives” that showcases the variety of materials and formats in the collection. Examples include early campus photographs, student newspapers, event fliers and programs, and materials documenting significant campus events. The exhibit will be on display in the North Carolina Collection Room on the 3rd floor of Joyner Library for the spring 2025 semester. Come check it out!

Also, you can explore over 9,000 digitized items from University Archives in our Digital Collections.
