Sensational 1853 Beaufort County Superior Court Trial Recalled in 1854 Book
Immediately after being found guilty for the murder of Clement Lassiter, Baptist minister George W. Carawan shot and killed the prosecutor and then himself inside a Beaufort County Superior courtroom. Though not charged, he was suspected as well to have murdered others, including his first wife, illegitimate infant and his lover’s husband.
