World War I in the ECU Digital Collections
One hundred years ago, on “the 11th hour, on the 11th day, on the 11th month” of 1918, the armistice to end World War I fighting on the Western Front was signed. 116,546 Americans lost their life during the conflict. The memorialization of the day would begin the next year and continue in different forms across the world. In the United States, it would become Veterans Day and celebrates all who served in the United States military.
The East Carolina University Manuscripts holds many collections with materials from World War I To view selected letters, photographs, and other materials that have been digitized, visit our digital collections.
