Email Template for Reaching Out to Department for Funding

Hello X,

I am trying to publish my article X in X journal open access. Publishing open access has been correlated to more citations and a higher download count. Open Access is also important because it meets ECU’s strategic goal of making our research benefit the wider community beyond ECU.

As you may be aware, Article Processing Charges (APCs) are often required by reputable academic journals to cover the costs of peer review, editing, production, and open access publication. The APC for this article is X. While ECU Libraries has an Open Access Publishing Support Fund, the fund the limited and requires other funding sources as well.

We are hoping that the department would be willing to find some funding to pay a portion of the APC.
